Chilworth Abbey to host series on ‘The Mystery of God’ by Bishop Robert Barron

17 July 2025

Six sessions on a Saturday morning every month at St Augustine's Abbey, Chilworth

St Augustine’s Abbey, Chilworth is hosting a thought provoking six part faith formation series this autumn and winter, presented by Benedictine monk Fr John Seddon OSB. The programme, titled “The Mystery of God: Who God Is and Why He Matters”, is based on the acclaimed series by Bishop Robert Barron.

The sessions will take place monthly on Saturday mornings, starting on 13 September 2025, and are designed to delve deeply into key questions of belief, atheism and the nature of God in the modern world. We meet in the Assisi Room at the rear of the monastery. Free car parking is available.

The programme is as follows:

Session 1 (Sept 13): Atheism and What We Mean by ‘God’

Session 2 (Oct 11): The Paths to God

Session 3 (Nov 15): The Divine Attributes

Session 4 (Dec 6): Providence and the Problem of Evil

Session 5 (Jan 10): Exploring the Trinity

Session 6 (Feb 14): The God Who Is Love
