Chilworth Abbey to host series on ‘The Mystery of God’ by Bishop Robert Barron
Six sessions on a Saturday morning every month at St Augustine's Abbey, Chilworth

St Augustine’s Abbey, Chilworth is hosting a thought provoking six part faith formation series this autumn and winter, presented by Benedictine monk Fr John Seddon OSB. The programme, titled “The Mystery of God: Who God Is and Why He Matters”, is based on the acclaimed series by Bishop Robert Barron.
The sessions will take place monthly on Saturday mornings, starting on 13 September 2025, and are designed to delve deeply into key questions of belief, atheism and the nature of God in the modern world. We meet in the Assisi Room at the rear of the monastery. Free car parking is available.
The programme is as follows:
Session 1 (Sept 13): Atheism and What We Mean by ‘God’
Session 2 (Oct 11): The Paths to God
Session 3 (Nov 15): The Divine Attributes
Session 4 (Dec 6): Providence and the Problem of Evil
Session 5 (Jan 10): Exploring the Trinity
Session 6 (Feb 14): The God Who Is Love
Each session will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. with tea and coffee provided. Attendees are encouraged to arrive in good time and to engage in the discussion and reflection that follows each presentation.
Booking is essential, with a fee of £10 per person per Saturday. A booking fee applies.
