Saint Anthony of Padua (1195-1231) was a Franciscan friar and a renowned preacher, known for his deep spirituality and dedication to the poor. He was born in Lisbon, Portugal, and died in Arcella, Italy. Canonized in 1232, he is celebrated as the patron saint of lost items, credited with numerous miracles involving lost people and things. His feast day is observed on June 13. Saint Anthony is venerated worldwide and is also recognized as a protector of sailors, travelers, and the poor. In The Life of St. Anthony, published in 1895, this mystical event is narrated in detail. The benefactor witnessed St. Anthony in a state of ecstasy, kneeling in prayer and admiration. To his astonishment, he saw a beautiful child of extraordinary charm who was tenderly embracing St. Anthony.

The vision was so divine and filled with such affection that the benefactor recognized the child as Jesus Christ. It is said that Christ, in the form of this loving child, visited St. Anthony to console and bless him. This extraordinary encounter not only affirmed St. Anthony’s deep faith but also symbolized the special relationship he had with Jesus.
