Jesus is shown surrounded by His Mother Mary; Beloved Disciple, St John and St Mary Magdalene at His feet. The top arm shows scenes of Christ's Passion. The left arm of the icon shows the betrayal of Jesus by Judas, the lower arm shows the Holy Women visiting the empty tomb, where and Angel tells them, 'He is Risen', the right arm shows Jesus bursting from the tomb, trampling Satan underfoot and preaching the Gospel to all the souls who lived before his Incarnation.
